So, upon logging into Facebook today, I was greeted by several new ads that Adblock Plus for Firefox wasn't blocking.
Frustrating.
Add the following filters to Adblock Plus to make them go away:
facebook.com#*(social_ad)
facebook.com#*(social_ad_advert)
Now I can continue using Facebook without having to deal with their stupid ads.

Love the blocks, but sponsored links (aka ADVERTS) disguised as News Feeds aren't blocked. Any updates for taking those out, too?

Excellent, good sir, you have introduced me to element hiding.
With these skills, I offer this:
also add this filter:
facebook.com#*(sponsored_links)
And that will remove the "more ads | advertise" links below the now-hidden ads.
with that instruction i do not see photos in other profiles
have you did a try ?
with that option i cannot see photos of my friend.
Your Time Well Spent and Appreciated
I just love it when I have a problem, put a few words into Google, and find that some generous person has helped me solve my problem. Thanks so much. The ads were so annoying and I just didn't know how to do it myself. susana.

Thanks for the info - was just about to figure out element hiding but glad I looked it up and you posted it...
Worked wonders.
Thank you!
Thank you! But...
Thanks so much for this. I'll distribute this link... on Facebook! One thing: the thumbs up/down and the 'Advertise' links are still shown. Is there any way of blocking these remnants?
sidebar
The entire sidebar can be filtered by adding
facebook.com#*(UIStandardFrame_SidebarAds)
I also use the two above:
facebook.com#*(social_ad)
facebook.com#*(social_ad_advert)
and these two:
facebook.com#*(sponsored_links)
http://creative.ak.facebook.com/ads*
The latter is actually a proper filter, not just element hiding, and saves on downloads.

Facebook ad and element blocking
Thanks for the information; I can't believe that it took me this long to find it. Much appreciated.
